She was born the puppy of Yellow River Red Rocky and Scotts Red Hot Screamin Shadow. For the first 2.5 years of her life, she lived under a trailer, which exposed her to the effects of getting 4 different kinds of worms, including heart worm. She was about to be shot. That's when Ruby was given to us. She was nothing but skin and bones, and a $600 vet bill. We got her back to health, and provided a good home for her. When a man named Jason was divorced out of the family, he took the dog with him. Even though he never paid one red cent for the dog, she was still miraculously considered his. He couldn't handle any responsibility, and was going to take the dog out and shoot her. Now, the strangeness of this is, through the fate of a free color TV, I met some people who owned a young, male Redbone, and a 10 week old puppy. So Ruby was returned to us, to save her from death for a second time. I contacted the family of the other two Redbones, and they came to look at her last night. It was an immediate bond. One look at her pedigree proved to them the Champion bloodline through both Yellow River Red Rocky and Scotts Red Got Screamin Shadow. They looked her over head to toe and could not believe the find. A Redbone, who was given away freely 4 times, saved from death twice, and was being given to them, will surely soon prove to be a champion show dog and producer. Thus is the story of Shiawassee River Ruby. Story Submitted by: Jenny Carr One time I had this dog he was a good dog. i would run him six times a week in the summer months. I grew to no every flaw he had. So I loved that dog a lot but one night i was out hunting in my usual spot on the river beds. I dumped old pett like I always did. He went out like he always did, ran the river a little ways open up with long bawl. He ran a little ways and it sounded like he was swimming no big deal. But to make sure I walked in to him. He swam the river no doubt but as soon as I started back to the truck he was coming back across. I walked down to where I was straight across from him and shined out towards him and all I saw was him struggling to get are because the coon got up on his head I knew that there wasn’t any thing I could do. That night I ended up seeing one of my best dogs die out in that river. The end Story Submitted by: Chad
